There are currently so many ways to to build relationships with bloggers, especially online. I have actually had a lot of people randomly slide into my DM’s on Instagram, and ask me how I became friends with so and so, or how did I meet so and so – and it’s really simple – just reach out to them! The easiest thing to do is to build an online relationship with bloggers, and I am here to tell you how!
I would say the easiest thing to do is reach out to them through Instagram. My tactic is, I like and comment a couple of their photos, they comment back with a thank you or whatever, and I like that comment and follow them, usually they follow back if they like my content. Then, I DM them and we chat and get to know each other and through time, build a relationship and become friends! It is honestly that easy! Sometimes, you don’t even have to like/comment their photos, you can just go straight to following and DMing them! Now, the trick with that is to get straight to the point. If they are not following you, your message will go into their request folder. When it goes there, they will only see the first few words you send, so make those count. By doing so, it allows them to want to open the message and actually read what you wrote! From there, they will either reply to you or ignore you, and yes, it will happen. There are so many bloggers and influencers that think they have it all and think they are too good for you and ignore you. But, you move on!

In addition to messaging them on instagram, if you really like someones content, post them on your story and tag them! If they are the type of people that do not look at their request messages, instagram has that new feature that on the top of your notifications, you can view stories you were tagged it. This makes it easier for you to become visible! So – by doing this, they will most likely view your story more than your message (that is in the request folder), and when they see it, 90% of the time they will reply back and say ‘aw thank you!’ and you can start a relationship from there!
Another way to build an online relationship with bloggers is to reach out to them through their blog! If you are actually looking to collaborate with them, send them an email and pitch to them! Leave your social media links for them to check you out and see what you have to offer them! Now, if they are actually famous bloggers, they most likely have someone working for them and they won’t personally see your email, so I would rather go through instagram! Also, a lot of emails can get lost or go to their spam/junk folder, so try that once and if you do not hear back, to feel discouraged, it probably went to another folder and they haven’t checked it.

I know this is how to build an online relationship with bloggers, BUT, you can also build relationships with them in person! (whaaaaat?) YES! If you are a fellow blogger/influencer, you can both we working with the same companies and eventually meet at an event! This has happened to me, although I go to events blind (not knowing who else works with the brand), I have met so many other bloggers/influencers. I am totally shy, but when I go to these events, I love being able to chat with others so I suck it up and pretend I am so social and forget I am shy (haha). I have met so many amazing people through this! I have met them once, and now we are online friends and have that online relationship. And it’s really nice because some have more experience than me, so if and when I need help with something, they are always willing to help me! And vice versa! They reach out to me if they need something. It’s really wonderful to have amazing people in your life that do the same thing you do!
Now, I know there are a lot of other ways to build an online relationship, but I think these are the easiest.

Since Iโm a fairly new blogger, this was exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for such an informative article!

As a new blogger I really appreciated this post. Thank you
Yay! Glad I can help ๐
I am a new blogger and found this very useful! Thank you so much!
Aw yay! So glad I can help!
Insta is great for relationship-building! I actually have really grown to like Twitter, too โ I find that itโs a fun way to connect & FB groups. I will say that Iโm not a fan of having bloggers pitch to me in comments on my blog. Not that Iโm not flattered, I just feel like it doesnโt really feel like a connection in that way for me. But Iโm sure everyone looks at that a little differently! ๐ Thanks for sharing!
Totally agree! I dont like the commenting on photos and blogs either. I like the commenting about the photo or article, and when they reply a thank you, then DM/follow them!
Great ways to build a relationship with blogger. Thanks for sharing.
I have found that Twitter has been a great place to develop some of those connections without the clutter in my inbox ๐ I also finally realized that I had a lot more writers in my life than I thought I did.
Yes!! That too. But also, most people (that I have seen) barely go on Twitter anymore. They’re rarely active but if they are, thats wonderful !
